True You Counselling Services Person Centred Counselling

Hello and a very warm welcome to True You Counselling Services

I have considerable life, relationship, work, and counselling experience and I am someone who is caring, trustworthy and reliable. I have experienced many ups and downs in my own life and relationships, fortunately for me my own inner resilience has stood me in good stead.

In my early twenty's I was diagnosed with M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) which is a very debilitating illness but one which I have managed over the years, and I have been fortunate to be able live a productive life. My personal belief is living with a disability can make you a stronger person, as it makes you revaluate your life and you appreciate the smaller things in life.

Joanne-Marie TibbsI feel that your health is the most precious thing you can have, and because of my experience of living with 'ME' I can truly empathise with clients who have experienced the loss of their own health or the health of someone close and the many emotions and frustrations that comes with living with an illness. I have been a member of and actively involved with the M.E. association for many years, and have also volunteered at the Disabilities Information Advice Line which also has given me greater knowledge and understanding of the effects of disability.

My journey into the field of counselling first started in 2006 after a major life changing event. This was a major significant bereavement and a very painful loss. The result of this loss was that I felt inspired to help and support others who may be going through a similar experience.

I made contact with Cruse Bereavement Care and completed their accredited foundation course and volunteered to be a support counsellor for bereaved people.

This started me on the next stage of my own personal journey. I enrolled at South Essex College and after five years of extensive study I am now a fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a member of the B.A.C.P currently working towards my B.A.C.P Accreditation. My qualifications include:

with any bereavement your priorities change and you have to adapt. It changes your life forever, but it is how you move on from it that counts. "I would recommend this to anyone who has had any kind of bereavement, even if it is just for one session. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't come really
